Abstract
This article examines the development of sound design in the late 20th and early 21st
centuries, focusing on the implementation of digital technologies and their impact on cinema and theatrical
arts. The emergence of multichannel audio systems such as Dolby Digital, DTS, SDDS, and IMAX has
fundamentally transformed the artistic and aesthetic dimension of the sound environment, introducing new
dramaturgical possibilities for audience perception. Particular emphasis is placed on the role of digital
technologies in shaping the “DIY” concept and simplifying access to audio materials through the internet
