Abstract
The article examines the psychologism of M. Yu. Lermontov’s prose and the formation of the “superfluous man” image in 19th-century Russian literature. Special attention is given to the analysis of the characters’ inner world, narrative techniques, and methods of psychological representation. Based on the novel A Hero of Our Time, the complex and contradictory nature of Pechorin is revealed as a typical representative of the “superfluous man” type. The study concludes that Lermontov made a significant contribution to the development of psychological prose in Russian literature.References
