Abstract

This article discusses the traditions and new trends in the creative work of prominent representatives of the 20th–century Uzbek dutar performing arts. Using the examples of the Tashkent, Andijan, Samarkand, and Khorezm performance schools, it examines the particularities of preserving the classical repertoire, as well as the individual creative pursuits of certain performers who synthesized the traditional foundation with new artistic and technical means of expression, notably Turgun Alimatov.
